Portugal had not featured on our tastings for a couple of years, but this time we focused on the wines of the Dão region of Portugal.  The region was a vinous backwater for many decades but over the last ten to fifteen years a range of interesting wines has started to emerge and  many commentators believe that this area has real potential for high-quality wines and that the best is yet to come.

On 29 March Tim Goodenough presented 11 wines, including four wines from Alvaro Castro, who is recognised as perhaps the leading light in Dão.
